The Pontiff on family, human ecology, secularized anthropology
Family, human ecology, secularized anthropology. These are a few main themes which Pope Francis touched on in his audience on Thursday, 13 June, in the Consistory Hall with the members of the 13th General Ordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops. An encounter which turned into an informal work meeting after the Holy Father set his prepared speech aside and explicitly asked the members to speak about their work, in view of the publication of the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation, fruit of the assembly's work last October. The Holy Father has already begun work on the text, imagining it as a treatise about evangelization in general. It was a decision made from the desire for the content to not overlap that of the next encyclical which will be dedicated to faith. Francis defined it as “a strong document”, recalling that it was his predecessor Benedict XVI who started it. The Pope said, smiling, that the encyclical was written with “four hands”.
