Thailand Holds Election Re-Run

Thailand has held a re-run of voting in five provinces widely disrupted during last month's general election.

The Election Commission says voting in the general election on Feb. 2 was disrupted in 18 percent of constituencies affecting several million people in 18 of 77 provinces.

The commission says full results will not be announced until polls have been held in all constituencies.

Until the results are announced, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will remain at the head of a caretaker government with limited power over policy.

Meanwhile Sunday, anti-government protesters have dismantled five encampments throughout the capital, Bangkok, and settled in a park in the center of the city.

Demonstrators are calling on the prime minister to resign and make way for an unelected interim council to overhaul the political system and institute reforms.
